It’s the end of August in 2024 and couples are choosing not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen, no grand entrance, no cake cutting and no first looks. It’s about being in the moment and creating one time experiences that are natural and not staged. And I’m all for it! But there is more to it! Do you want to be part of your celebration and spend as much time as possible with all of your friends and family? Do you hear from others that your wedding day is going to go by fast? Then you may want to reconsider..

If you choose to have a first look, this moment doesn’t take away from walking down the aisle and seeing your to be spouse for the first time. It’s an added bonus and you receive more than just one “first” moment. The whole experience just flows, from getting ready photos to fun moments with your wedding party to reading that love letter or opening your wedding day gift. These moments are precious and you have your hair and make up team by your side that can freshen up your look before it’s show time. Your team can also stay for another moment to help wipe away those tears after you completed your first look and give you that fresh look for round 2 as you walk down the aisle and enjoy the celebration time.

Eliminating the first look happens most of the time, when you have a small family and no wedding party. Your photographer will be focused on a few family shots and your portraits during the cocktail hour and later again for sunset photos. You will miss about 30-45 minutes of your cocktail hour for portraits and family photos but will be able to spend time with guests as well. And your sunset photos will happen as your guests are eating, so no time lost here!
